About the Author

Blake Patrick

Blake Patrick writes across genres — from Roman-era epics to small-town horror, quiet romance to British crime — united by one obsession: the moment ordinary people are forced to decide who they really are.

Before writing full-time, Blake served 29 years in the police, the last 17 of them as a detective. Now retired from the force, Blake spends that same instinct for procedure, patience, and the small detail that unravels everything on the page instead — most visibly in the Sid Thorpe series and Hidden Cargo, but it shapes how every investigation, cover-up, and chase across these books is built.

Blake's work spans four series and a growing shelf of standalones. The Legions of Honour saga follows a Roman commander caught between empire and conscience across the wilds of Britannia. The Sid Thorpe series brings a sharper, present-day edge — British detective fiction built on the slow unravelling of secrets that were never meant to survive this long. Elsewhere, readers will find eco-horror, small-town creature-features, ancient Egypt, and love stories that refuse to look away from the harder parts of history.

When not deep in research or drafting the next book, Blake can usually be found building the tools other writers use to actually finish theirs — see The Bindery, a novel writing studio built out of twenty books' worth of frustration with everything else on the market.

Blake lives and writes in the UK.
